Accommodation

Most of our programs are held at the Barcelona campus. In this case, it is advisable to find accommodation in Barcelona itself. Please be aware that accommodation in central Barcelona is not a service provided by the UAB. There are several public accommodation services for student apartments and room rentals in Barcelona, as well as host family accommodation.

If your program is held on the Bellaterra main campus (outside Barcelona city), in this case, UAB student halls of residence and other facilities for the UAB community are available, including apartments located on-campus with accommodation for 2,000 students.

Social and extracurricular activities

The Study Abroad UAB programmes do not include formal extra-curricular activities; however, students will find a wide range of exciting opportunities to explore once they arrive in Barcelona.

At the Barcelona campus, the UAB Language Services and ESN UAB (Erasmus Student Network) organise weekly on-site Language Exchange sessions and cultural events. In addition, the main UAB campus in Bellaterra offers a gym and various other facilities that Study Abroad students can access.

Barcelona itself has an exceptional cultural scene, providing endless possibilities for social, cultural, and sports activities for students to enjoy at any time of year.

Visa and immigration

Students who are EU citizens have no legal formalities to complete before coming to Spain. However, citizens from European Union or European Economic Area member states, as well as from the Swiss Confederation, who intend to reside in Spain for more than three months, must register at the Central Registry Office for Foreigners (Registro Central de Extranjeros) to be issued a certificate of registration and an identity number for foreigners.

Students who are non-EU citizens must arrange their legal situation depending on the duration of their stay. The UAB Study Abroad Program provides with admission documentation that students should show at any Spanish Embassy or Consulate to start their visa application.
