Carnegie Mellon University

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is a private research university based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was established in 1900 as a merger of the Carnegie Institute of Technology and the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research. Its 140-acre campus is a beautiful display of well-kept nature and stylish architecture. CMU is one of 62 elected members of the Association of American Universities and one of 25 members of the World Economic Forum Global University Leaders Forum. Its acceptance rate is fairly low, with a 17% of applicants admitted every year. The university is classified among “R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity”. Its alumni have shaped the world, founding companies such as: Activision, Adobe, Cognizant, Duolingo and Coursera. CMU is ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide in every major ranking and is included in the top 20 worldwide in the Engineering & Technology field.
