Established in 1975, Linköping University (LiU) is a Swedish public university. With more than 30.000 students, it is one of the largest universities in Sweden. The university is particularly noted for its openness to multidisciplinary research and, in 1980, was the first Swedish university to introduce interdisciplinary thematic research at its Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and a cross-subject, interdisciplinary perspective in its graduate schools for PhD students. LiU is known for its student-centred learning with a high student satisfaction rate, an interdisciplinary approach to studies and close collaboration with the business world.
