Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences is the largest public university of applied science in Lower Saxony, Germany. Having originally opened in 1971, it has existed in its current form since 2003. Some of its departments can be traced back to engineering schools and other colleges operating in the 1950s. The university is a member of the University Alliance UAS7. Its network of international relations is large and includes more than 200 partner universities all over the world. Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences has a noteworthy research orientation: it is committed to the approach of a “University of Applied Sciences”, which means that the university is actively involved in society and sees research as an essential contribution to practically assist in solving socially relevant issues.
