Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) is a private research university dedicated to research and education in science and technology. It was established in 1986 by POSCO, one of the world’s leading steel companies, with the purpose of providing advanced education to aspiring engineers and laying the groundwork for future technological development in the nation. In 2012–2014, Times Higher Education ranked POSTECH 1^st in its “100 Under 50 Young Universities” rankings. Since its establishment, POSTECH has been maintaining its prestige and reputation as one of the most prominent young research universities in the world, which is now ranked as the 87^th best university in the world by QS World University Rankings.
