Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) is a public research university located in Kaiserslautern and in Landau in Germany.
Previously, the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and the University of Landau were two different universities, but they collaborated in January 1st, 2023, becoming RPTU.
The university counts 20.000 students and its campus in Kaiserslautern is surrounded by many technological institutes that cooperate closely with the university, giving example of: Fraunhofer Institutes, the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, the Institute for Composite Materials and the Institute for Surface and Thin Film Analysis.
RPTU is part of the Software-Cluster along with the Technische Universität Darmstadt, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Saarland University. The Software-Cluster won the German government’s Spitzencluster competition, an important recognition in the field.
