Founded in 1943 by a group of local businessmen led by Eugenio Garza Sada, Tecnológico de Monterrey is a secular and coeducational multi-campus private university based in Monterrey, Mexico. It is considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America. It was the first university to be connected to the Internet in Latin America and in the Spanish-speaking world. Tecnológico de Monterrey is the only Latin American institution at the European Consortium of Innovative Universities and at Universitas 21. It is also the only Mexican university, along the National Autonomous University of Mexico, to be enrolled at the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, an international consortium of leading research universities including Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley and Caltech. The university is excellently ranked as the 155th best university in the world by QS World University Rankings.
