Formally established in 1966, University of Bath is a public research university located in Bath, United Kingdom. It can trace its roots to the Merchant Venturers’ Technical College, established in Bristol as a school in 1595 by the Society of Merchant Venturers. The university is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Association of MBAs, the European Quality Improvement System, the European University Association, Universities UK and GW4. Its main campus is located on Claverton Down, a site overlooking the city of Bath, purpose-built from 1964 in the modernist style of the time. The University of Bath is ranked among the best 200 universities in the world by CWTS Leiden Ranking, QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
