Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (FH Bielefeld) is the largest public university in the East Westphalia-Lippe region. It was founded in 1971 and is one of the first universities of applied sciences in Germany. It has 38 Bachelor and 25 Master programs spread on five subject areas. The university has successful gender equality policies, and a family-friendly study and professional environment. FH Bielefeld orientates its research profile to the global social challenges of the future, with a particular focus on the compelling issues of climate and energy, health, mobility and communication. The university also has a social responsibility commitment over and beyond teaching and research: social responsibility aimed at students, employees and at the regional environment is the focus of the institution.
