Queen Maud University College (QMUC) is a private college for preschool teachers established in 1947. It is the only college in Norway solely dedicated to the education of preschool teachers. The school is located in an old majestic 20th century building and has about 1.400 students and 150 employees. As an institution, it works actively to ensure children’s needs and rights, and make children’s perspective in the society visible. QMUC participates in the ERASMUS+ program and is actively involved in research projects and networks both nationally and internationally. About 20% of its students are male. A lot of effort has been made to encourage men to start studying Early Childhood Education and Care. Hence, QMUC has received The Gender Equality Prize for its successful work in introducing men to the profession.
