Founded in 1970, the University of Gdańsk is a public research university located in Gdańsk, Poland. It is one of the top 10 universities in Poland and is also an important center for the studies of the Kashubian language. With nearly 30.000 students, the University of Gdańsk is the largest higher education institution in Poland’s northern region of Pomerania. Due to its maritime focus, its motto is: “In mari via tua” (In sea your way). For the same reason, the University of Gdańsk is a member of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU), along with the University of Malta and other leading higher education institutions.
