The University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour (UPPA) is a French multi-site, public university, founded in 1970. Coming administratively under the Academy of Bordeaux, it is the third largest university in southwestern France (after Bordeaux and Toulouse ones), with some 12.000 students. The University’s logo is a stylised representation of the Pyrénées or the Pic du Midi d’Ossau. UPPA’s roots date back to the XVIth century, with the creation of a Collège des Arts (an institute for Humanities) in 1549, and then of the third protestant academy in Europe in 1564, which in 1583 was established as a university.
