University of West Bohemia (UWB) is a public university in Pilsen, Czech Republic. With nearly 12.000 students, the university can be considered to be a medium-size institution. The university puts an emphasis on the well-being of its students: every student has a chance to build her/his own study programme according to her/his interests, to get excellent language training, study abroad, get involved in research programmes, and put their knowledge to the test. With three Research Centres and one European Centre of Excellence, UWB focuses on research, and has a significant position in the field of higher education among the universities in the Czech Republic and within the European space.
