The University of Winnipeg (UWinnipeg) is a public research university in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It had been created from the union of Manitoba College and Wesley College in 1938, and later established in 1967. UWinnipeg is focused on providing a wide variety of work-integrated learning opportunities for students. Nearly 60 percent of its students participate in them before they graduate, for example through the stand-out Inner City Work Study program, funded by RBC and the City of Winnipeg. The University of Winnipeg offers several programs and services to Aboriginal people. It is the first university to mandate that all students take an Indigenous course requirement as part of their degree. The course was added by the University of Winnipeg in support and compliance with the recommendations by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
