The International Office of UCAM has prepared this page to guide UCAM students through the outgoing mobility process. The information below reflects the official institutional requirements, procedures, and mobility opportunities offered by UCAM for international exchange programmes.

UCAM strongly supports international mobility experiences and encourages students to develop intercultural, linguistic, and professional competencies through study abroad opportunities. Students are encouraged to maintain close communication with both their academic coordinators and the International Relations Office throughout the entire process to ensure a smooth recognition procedure.

Application process

Outgoing Freemover Credit Recognition Procedure at UCAM

Students interested in undertaking a freemover mobility period abroad should follow these steps:

  1. Initial consultation with the International Relations Office (ORI) and Mobility Tutor
Students are advised to contact the ORI and their faculty mobility tutor as early as possible, ideally 6–12 months before departure, to discuss the academic feasibility of the mobility period and possible course recognition.
  2. Selection of host institution and study plan
Students should choose a recognized institution abroad and prepare a preliminary list of courses/modules they intend to take. UCAM requires academic compatibility between the studies abroad and the student’s degree programme.
  3. Preparation of the Learning Agreement
Before departure, students must complete a Learning Agreement with the support of their mobility tutor. This document specifies:

    • the courses to be taken abroad,
    • the equivalent UCAM subjects,
    • and the credits expected to be recognized upon successful completion.

The Learning Agreement is binding for all parties and guarantees academic recognition once approved.

  4. Approval process
The proposed study plan is reviewed by the academic coordinator and the International Relations Office. Students should allow approximately 4–8 weeks for the full approval and documentation process.
  5. Mobility period abroad
During the mobility period, students must remain in contact with their mobility tutor. Any course changes must be formally approved through an amendment to the Learning Agreement.
  6. Submission of final documents
After the mobility period, students must submit:
    • the official Transcript of Records issued by the host institution,
    • proof of stay (if applicable),
    • and any additional documents requested by the faculty or ORI.
  7. Credit recognition and grade transfer
Once the documentation is verified, UCAM processes the academic recognition of the completed courses according to the approved Learning Agreement and institutional regulations. Credit transfer usually takes place within 4–8 weeks after receipt of all final documents.

Excluded destinations

UCAM values international academic quality and recognizes the efforts made by wearefreemovers to carefully select partner institutions worldwide. In principle, UCAM does not maintain a predefined list of excluded destinations for freemover mobility.

However, recognition may not be granted if:

  • the institution abroad does not meet sufficient academic quality standards,
  • the proposed studies are not compatible with the student’s degree programme,
  • or local safety/travel restrictions apply.

Students are therefore strongly encouraged to consult the International Relations Office before confirming their destination.
