About

Welcome to Tennessee Tech University—where top-tier education meets an awesome student experience! Located in Cookeville, a classic college town, Tennessee Tech offers an ideal environment for students, with a lower cost of living compared to most areas and a safe, close-knit campus community.

Cookeville itself has around 85,000 residents, but the surrounding region brings that number up to 174,000, giving the city a lively yet welcoming atmosphere. And if you ever feel like exploring bigger cities, you’re in the perfect spot! Tennessee Tech is strategically placed between three of Tennessee’s major metropolitan hubs:

  • 🎶 Nashville (aka “Music City USA”)—home of country music, just east of Tech;
  • 🌄 Knoxville, another vibrant city, to the east;
  • 🌊 Chattanooga, famous for its scenic riverfront, to the south;
  • 🌲 The Great Smoky Mountains—the most visited national park in the USA (with over 40 million annual visitors), just two hours away.
If you’re into the outdoors, you’ll love it here! Tennessee Tech is surrounded by three state parks, with hundreds of waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and mountains. The region is even known for its ecological diversity, often compared to the Amazon Basin—yep, you read that right!
Tennessee Tech houses 7 Colleges: the College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Fine Arts, College of Interdisciplinary Studies, College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Agriculture and Human Ecology. Plus the School of Nursing, the College of Graduate Studies and the Honor’s College.
As a wearefreemovers member, you get an exclusive tuition discount at Tennessee Tech! However, please note that this means you won’t be eligible for additional scholarships—but hey, saving on tuition is already a big win!
