Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) is a national research university, established by the Korean government in 1971 as the nation’s first public, research-oriented science and engineering institution. It is a very selective university, with an estimated acceptance rate of 15%. With more than 11.000 students coming from 70 countries, KAIST is one of the most ethnically diverse universities in the country. The university enjoys an excellent positioning in the notable QS World University Rankings. It is ranked 41st in the world and 1st in South Korea while, when it comes to individual subjects, it gains top 20 worldwide placements for: materials science, civil and structural engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering and chemistry.
