University of Johannesburg

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is a public university located in Johannesburg, South Africa. It came into existence in 2005 as the result of a merger between the Rand Afrikaans University, the Technikon Witwatersrand and the Soweto and East Rand campuses of Vista University. With a student population of over 50.000 students from 80 countries, UJ is one of the largest universities in South Africa. It is the first and only African university admitted to Universitas 21, the highly respected consortium of 28 research-intensive universities in the world. UJ is ranked 7th in Africa and within the top 3% of universities in the world by QS World University Rankings.
