Founded in 2006, the Distance-Learning University of Applied Sciences (FERNFH) is Austria’s first and only distance-learning higher education institution. We believe that this is a possible solution and effective support for the higher education needs of those who can’t commit to traditional university studies.
The institution offers six degree programs in three different fields (Health Sciences, Business & Psychology, Information Systems Engineering & Management) as well as 40 micro-credentials (compact training modules that provide targeted competencies, allowing flexible learning without a full degree program).
These are organized as distance learning programs with on-campus sessions and self-defined distance learning phases.
This gives you the flexibility to study alongside your job and family (or while discovering another country or continent) without being tied to a specific location. The innovative organisation of the FERNFH degree programmes paves the way for new career opportunities and makes room for your individual lifestyle.
FERNFH’s mission is to reduce individual and structural barriers to higher education and to increase equality of opportunity in higher education for traditional and non-traditional students who are interested in realizing their academic ambitions. We support those who wish to obtain a higher education qualification while juggling family, social, and work responsibilities.
Freemover@FERNFH also offers part-time students or students with caring responsibilities from abroad, who want or need to spend a semester abroad, the opportunity to gain experience and complete their studies without having to change their place of residence for an entire semester or year.
