Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Unicatt) is an Italian private research university founded in 1921. It is the largest private university in Europe, and the largest Catholic University in the world. The university was founded during tough times: Italy was involved in a world war, and its population was suffering. One of the founding members said, in 1918: “I will not see the end of the war, but you, when it is finished, do it, found the Università Cattolica”. Unicatt, according to a study of the International Student Barometer, a survey of a sample of 65 universities in Europe, is the second in Europe and fourth position at the international level among the most recommended universities by foreign students. It is notably one of the best universities in Italy and in Europe, especially for some disciplines, such as medical sciences and economics.
