Founded in 1495, the University of Aberdeen is a public UK research university. The university comprises three colleges: King’s College, Marischal College, and Christ’s. The university has educated a wide range of notable alumni, including five Nobel-prize winners, and played key roles in the Scottish Reformation, Scottish Enlightenment, and the Scottish Renaissance. With 15.000 students, the University of Aberdeen can be considered a medium-sized institution. However, its international influence is comparable to the one that bigger institutions enjoy: many international rankings, including QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education World University Rankings put University of Aberdeen among the 200 best universities in the world.
