“Dunarea de Jos” University of Galați is a public university located in Galați, Romania. It is the most important education institute in the South-Eastern part of Romania. The university was founded in 1974 by merging two previous existing institutions: the Polytechnical Institute and the College of Education. It consists of twelve faculties and two colleges with more than thirty departments and has several unique fields of education in the country, such as naval engineering and fishery. University of Galați counts 12.500 students and more than 2.500 international students. Internationalization is a big focus of the institution: its partnership network is made of 300 agreements with universities located in 50 different countries.
