University of Porto – Faculty of Engineering

Founded in 1911, the University of Porto is the second largest Portuguese public university by number of enrolled students, after the University of Lisbon, and has one of the most noted research outputs in Portugal. Its R&D activities have significantly expanded over the last years, mainly as a result of academic qualification and increased funding of R&D centers and concession of research grants through competitive programs with external independent evaluation by international peer review committees, making the University of Porto a modern research-oriented university. The university is well-positioned in the CWTS Leiden Ranking, as the 159^th best university in the world. It also gains important recognition in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Ranking, with a 288^th position among the world’s best universities.
